The various government policies and a boom in fashion industry have made it possible. Showcasing a truly original line designer  Imcha Imchen  opened the fourth day of Lakme Fashion Week SS’10. The entire fashion fraternity seemed to be eagerly waiting to see the emerging talents of our nation and the front row overflowed with designers, buyers and fashion admirers. The designer mesmerized everyone with his western collection presented in the tribal style. A fusion of ‘Ao’ (language of a particular Naga tribe), English and Indian music well complimented the whole concept. Followed by Paromita banerjee, the audiences got to witness an Indo-western line baptised as ‘Safed Rang’. Though one could easily spot influences of Rahul Mishra and Sabyasachi in Paromita’s line it was quite appreciated by buyers- which serves the purpose ultimately, I guess. Neha Agarwal presented western designs in her own way. Sticking to earthy tones and smaller prints, she did a fusion of all including various silhouettes and fabrics. Fashion shows of the present era are electrifying with spectacular, emotional and theatrical aspects. The Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) held in the ‘dream city’ of Mumbai during March 29 – April 2, 2008 is an apt example of the same. The new millennium endorsed with wealth, and amid a flock of fashion savvy designers, the show forged its own place in the world of fashion. Designers staying to their roots and with years of experience adored the show a sexy look with a touch of vintage elegance.

This season Lakme Fashion Week 2009 (LFW) has got an overwhelming response from the Gen Next and Emerging Fashion Designers group as also from the Accessory Designers group. LFW has received in all 189 applications – 88 for Gen Next and 44 for Emerging Fashion Designers from 20 cities across the country from Nagaland to Jaipur, from Dehradun to Secundrabad. Also, 8 Accessory Designers along with 49 established designers have applied. The Advisory Board members short listed the most talented designers for the Gen Next and the Emerging Designer categories, and also for the Accessories Group show.
